Our staff have world-class experience from our personal work history. Read about some of the signficant corporate experience we have continued to provide as McCormick Engineering below.
The project consisted of a total re-construction of 1700 lineal feet of roadway. The vertical alignment of the road was modified to meet drainage design standards. The roadway section was reduced and curb and gutters were added. A separated storm trunk line was installed and connected to an existing interceptor. Drive approaches, alley approaches, handicap ramps and intersections were reconstructed.
McCormick Engineering, LLC prepared construction plans, cost estimates, technical specification and contract documents for the project. Other design considerations included coordination with existing utilities, neighborhood meetings, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) and local permits and approvals.

The project consisted of a total re-construction of 2400 lineal feet of roadway, along with milling and resurfacing of an additional 300 lineal feet of roadway.
Other design considerations included coordination with existing utilities, special structure design for utility conflict avoidance, neighborhood meetings, Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) and local permits and approvals.
The project consisted of the removal of approximately 1400 feet of storm sewer piping and the creation of an open channel as stream bank mitigation for encapsulation of a segment of stream at a separate project site. The project includes the construction of five 42” diameter culvert crossings, approximately 3000 cubic yards of excavation, adjustment to 6-inch and 10-inch irrigation lines, placement of four glacial stone riffle structures for long term grade control, extensive erosion control features and native seeding.
McCormick Engineering, LLC prepared construction plans, cost estimates, technical specification and contract documents for the project. Other design considerations included coordination with existing utilities, Federal (US. Army Corps of Engineers) and State (Indiana Department of Environmental Management) permit extension coordination, and bidding services. McCormick Engineering, LLC provided construction observation services on a part-time basis for this project completed June 2010.
The project consisted of preparation of support documentation to revise errant floodway and flood hazard boundaries associated with the National Flood Insurance Program, which were precluding the reconstruction of an existing Martin’s Super Markets store.
McCormick Engineering, LLC performed extensive HEC-RAS modeling to update an outdated HEC-2 hydraulic model, field verified existing bridges, recut cross sections, coordinated field survey of site conditions and nonconforming structures, prepared inundation and floodway mapping, performed community government and public coordination, performed extensive coordination with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and DHS-FEMA, prepared an extensive report to support a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR), removed the need for a Construction in a Floodway permit, prepared annotated mapping, prepared electronic DFIRM support documents, and obtained all permits and approvals.
This project included revisions to 2.6 miles of flood hazard regulatory mapping, spanning two communities (City of Elkhart, IN and County of Elkhart, IN), which required additional coordination with the planning offices of both communities.
The project consisted of long term erosion control at an existing failing roadway intersection embankment. The project was constructed using staff and equipment of the Sanitary District of Michigan City, including: installation of a 20-foot culvert extension to flatten slopes, placement of approximately 70 cubic yards of fill, and the installation of approximately 100 square yards of permanent turf reinforcement mat, and native seeding.
The project included the use of a mix of standard topsoil and organic screened compost millings for fill material in order to provide a superior growing medium for vegetation eastablishment. The project was completed in one work day in September, with the picture below taken less than one month after installation.
McCormick Engineering, LLC prepared the suggested solution for the project based on field observations of the eroding bank and roadway asphalt cracking. We coordinated with the Owner and material suppliers to ensure availability on the established date of construction. Our staff provided onsite support throughout the day of construction.
The project was necessary to provide long term erosion control on an existing streambank. The project was constructed using staff and equipment of the Sanitary District of Michigan City, including the installation of 20-inch biodegradable coir logs and vegetation. The project included protection of downstream project limits with geoweb infilled with stone. The area behind the coir log was reshaped to a uniform slope and stabilized with vegetation and reinforcement mat.
McCormick Engineering, LLC prepared the suggested solution for the project based on field observations of the eroding bank. Our staff completed a topographic survey of the property and prepared construction plans. We coordinated with the Owner and material suppliers to ensure availability on the established date of construction. McCormick Engineering, LLC obtained a 401 Water Quality Certification from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and a Section 404 Permit from the United States Army Corp of Engineers. We provided onsite support throughout the two days of construction.
The two part project includes the extension of 160 feet of watermain within the public roadway. A portion of the waterline will be directionally bored under Bowman Creek. The second part of the project includes the replacement of an existing creek crossing with a rein-forced concrete box culvert and the associated guardrail and roadway improvements for the work.
McCormick Engineering, LLC prepared preliminary construction plans for both portions of the project and obtained a 401 Water Quality Certification from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, a Section 404 Permit from the United States Army Corp of Engineers and a Construction in a Floodway Permit from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
.
The project consisted of two miles of roadway improvements through a main thoroughfare in Michigan City. The rehabilitation included new storm structures and storm sewers, landscape medians and planter boxes with 13,000 plants and irrigation lines, sidewalks, curb and gutter, concrete medians, approaches, lighting and milling and resurfacing.
McCormick Engineering, LLC was a sub-consultant for construction inspection on the $8M project. Services included monitoring work progress for compliance with plans and specifications, field quantity measurements, daily reports, calculations for large quantity of various stone quantities placed in landscaped medians, progress meetings, meeting minutes, Site Manager daily report entries and generation of pay estimates.
